Edinboro Presbyterian offers “Drive Thru” and "Online” Easter Celebration
April 12 10:30 am – 12:15 pm
In light of the restrictions on gatherings of people, and to share some spiritual light with the people of the community, First United Presbyterian Church will offer a modified Easter morning celebration on April 12 as a “Drive Thru” worship experience in Edinboro. Anyone who wishes to take part in their cars can drive through any time between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
“I hope this opportunity will be an encouragement to everyone, whether they see our Easter lily display because they can drive through our parking lot or if they can watch video of this event,” said Pastor Greg Gillispie. “There will be celebratory music, and I look forward to offering a blessing to those who are safely, appropriately able to get out that day.”
“I think that the disruptions and any disappointments which many people will feel this year will draw us into a deeper understanding of the sadness and confusion of the Biblical persons in the original Easter story. There is some benefit for us being better able to relate to them. Even so, the day has a message of hope, for individuals and for the world.”
Drive-thru participants should plan to remain in their cars, and recommended personal distancing will be maintained. The Presbyterian Church building is on the eastern edge of Edinboro, at 4281 Route 6N. The congregation will offer a new but modified worship video on its website, EdinboroPresby.org, as well as a full traditional service video archived from a previous year. Those without internet access can listen to audio via Zoom.com by calling (669) 900-6833 , then entering “ 156-895-752 # # ”. No membership ID number is needed.
The outdoor lily display will continue to be available through the week which follows Easter morning.
