Edinboro Presby’s participation in this annual, global celebration is featured on our VIDEOS page for 10/16.

This is my Body.... We are the body of Christ....

People shall gather from east and west, from north and south, and sit at table with the Lord

This annual global observance reminds us of Christ’s connection with us, which in turn connects us with so many others.

Tap the image above or this link to see a 3-minute watermarked video showing us how wide Jesus’ reach truly is.

Pastor Greg Gillispie is leaving FUPC Edinboro toward a new calling — on the on-air staff of a Christian radio ministry in New York State. He closes out his ministry here the week of October 23, but new worship videos with his final Edinboro messages will b posted each of the next several weeks.

Read his letter of gratitude, our elders’ plans for the leadership transition, and the plans for our ongoing activities and ministries. Check out the NEWS tab from the menu above. (If you would like to receive updates from FUPC in coming months, we would be happy to email or mail them to you…just let us know your contact information —— 814.734.3511 or office@EdinboroPresby.org

Campus ministry is a vitally important opportunity for young adults, at an especially crucial transition point in their lives.

Whether at an outreach in the Presbyterian UKirk Network (that’s Presbyterian dialect for “University Church”!), at a congregation near campus, or in a different Christian organization, campus ministries give students the opportunity for positive influence (giving AND receiving), discovering more about their unique identity and life purpose, and having a great deal of fun and mission work and memory-making.

If you have influence on a post-high school student, encourage them to find a campus ministry at or close to their college or university. Visit UKirk.org for a lot of first-person stories, campus-by-campus listings of Christian groups, and other resources to help young people not only keep their faith while they are at school, but also to thrive in it.

The last two years have taught us the meaning of words like "quarantine" and "social distancing," leaving us lonelier than ever.

Devotional reflections to inspire your Lent

This year, instead of a traditional Bible Study for Lent on a single topic, Pastor Greg Gillispie takes us on a tour of his bookshelves to inspire conversations about everyday matters for which our faith provides insights, perspectives and practical tools. This series “Living in faith, Living out our faith daily” works through a variety of practical topics.

Each week a video, 12 to 18 minutes long, will begin with insights from the selected book, and delve into the challenges and struggles related to that topic. It may not resolve everything you are facing in that area of your life, but hopefully the perspectives shared will lead you to less stress, more hope and usable skills in that part of your life. Find the videos on our :website or ask for a DVD version.

        The topic list includes these:

Bearing with one another: how to seek common/ uncommon ground with others who disagree with you

The spiritual lives of teens: perspectives for young people, and those who influence them

Here and Now: Breaking unhealthy habits and patterns

Aging: When life changes for you, and for aging loved ones

An option for some folks, the people who are comfortable with resuming indoor worship

WORSHIP ONLINE VIDEOS

The online worship presentation for each Sunday are posted on the Videos link above

- - - - - - -

For the first time since March 8, Edinboro First Presbyterian will hold Sunday morning worship in our sanctuary August 2. The pastor and elders are eager to reopen this option for those who wish to resume that format. Anyone who is less than comfortable being back in the sanctuary will continue to have a video version of worship created new each week.

Over the past several weeks, we have stocked up on sanitizing supplies  and developed plans which match the guidance for safer local gatherings amid the challenges of the current Coronavirus epidemic. The outline of the indoor service will be trimmed back in length and to focus uniquely on those elements which are safer and particularly meaningful for people to do together. Those who come to the gathered worship will experience some of the protocols you are already familiar with in other public settings.

Week of July 26

David Oyler’s sermon. He retires at the end of July, after 41 years of ordained ministry, and 17 years as our General Presbyter inspiring our ministry across our region.

You may call the church office to ask questions, get information, or offer help. If you have an emergency or immediate need, please call the pastor or one of the elders or deacons directly. Voice mails will get replies, but there may be several days of delay if you leave a message on the main office number.

A TWICE-A-MONTH UPDATE will be mailed to our regular mailing lisT. The online version will be e-mailed to those for whom we have e-mail addresses. The Weekly Update (minus any confidential news which needs to be kept within this congregation) will also be posted on the NEWS tab at the top of this page.

CONGREGATIONAL CONNECTIONS will continue as best as possible, within the recommended health protocols. In addition to calls or contacts from the pastor and other church leaders, everyone in the church is urged to place calls to several others each week, just to check in. Check your mail or e-mail for further details.

SUNDAY WORSHIP will be available in a series of videos each weekend. To facilitate easier watching and downloading, the presentation is split into multiple videos, which you can watch one at a time or in sequence.

  • A TIME WITH YOUNGER WORSHIPERS is a video message for children, offering reassurance, a story or activity idea, and a prayer.

Check the VIDEOS tab above for these videos, and feel free to recommend them to others. We have methods to benefit people without access to the internet or similar technology.

News, updates, resources recommended by others, and Greg Gillispie’s pastoral letters are posted under the NEWS tab above. Please note the date on each item, and be aware that newer information may make a document or two out-of-date as time passes. As you read through what this church posts — and read, listen to or watch other information in the public media and online — be careful to only focus on news from reliable and authoritative sources. It’s hard enough to deal with what is really happening, without getting overwhelmed by inaccurate, biased or over-hyped information. Our pastor also urges people to turn off or turn down the blaring media. You need an update or two per day, not hours and hours of excessive coverage.

As we can help you in appropriate ways, we welcome that privilege. Connect with us, and know that the people of Edinboro First are praying for your health, your livelihood, and your peace of mind.
